The Mohawk Valley Golf Course Superintendents Association is the professional association for the men and women who manage and maintain the game's most valuable resource the golf course in the Mohawk Valley region of Central New York State.

Yahnundasis is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent for immediate placement. Successful candidates should have education and experience applicable to the position, a pesticide applicator license, and familiarity with Rainbird irrigation systems. Responsibilities to include crew supervision, chemical and fertilizer application, irrigation repairs and maintenance. Desirable traits include trustworthiness and positivity. As a Golf Course Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the golf course property, including the golf course, garden and surrounding areas, as well as maintaining the turf maintenance crew, including hiring, training, safety, supervision, and terminations. Applicant should have experience in grounds maintenance, fertilizer, and chemical applications. Crew management, mechanical skills, and irrigation system knowledge. Provide our golfers an excellent quality golf course by continuously improving our course and grounds throughout the season. Schedule, plan, organize, and coordinate all golf course maintenance and improvements. Ordering chemicals and maintaining budget. Monitor and adjust operational plan. Provide staff training and supervision. Establish a job descriptions and position standards. Ensure a high level of playing conditions. Properly prepare the course for winter by making appropriate and timely end-of-season chemical and fertilization applications. Make sure safety, efficient operations are met or exceeded. Establishment of goals and objectives for the staff.

A minimum of 5 years on-course experience in all facets of turf management. Agronomy, Herbicide and Pesticide application knowledge and experience. Must have NYS Certified Pesticide License. Supervisory experience in a golf course management setting. Ability to maintain/repair manual irrigation equipment and other golf course equipment. Manual irrigation system includes greens, tees and approaches only. Approach responsibilities in an organized and energetic manner.

All applicants should have a passion for golf in addition to general golf course or grounds management skills. These skills should include: keen eye for details, willing to do what it takes to get the job done, lead by example, working with a team, planning and budgeting, accountability, efficiency and discipline
